Erik Thormaehlen was born in Bay City, TX., in 1984. His family moved to Boerne in 1996. Erik ran on a state championship cross country team at Boerne HIgh School in 2003. After high school, he attended UTSA (majoring in history), where he established the official Facebook page that encouraged and educated UTSA students on how to vote "yes" for the referendum that allowed the athletic department the ability to begin a football program. Thormaehlen also was elected to the Boerne School Board and served three years on the board from 2006-2009. He then began his career in education which has included stops in Bandera, Ozona, Yoakum, Rocksprings, and Menard. Thormaehlen coached the boy's team to a cross country state title in 2013, and went on to be principal at Menard High School from 2016-2018, with coaching stops before and between.
The plan for this podcast is to set out to interview numerous educators across the State of Texas in a long-form fashion (detailing their career) that creates an enjoyable listen for the subject's family and friends, while supplementing interested educators with information that could potentially benefit their careers.
Guests will have the opportunity to share their story with the security of sitting across from a fellow educator, NOT a reporter. Every podcast produced will be subject to pre-approval by the subject interviewed, and the opportunity to retract stories or statements will be available prior to distribution.
